Mise au Point

With regard to a 'Mise en demeure' served by Mr Zaredhin M.N.S Jaunbaccus on the ICC relating to his application for Hadj 2026, the ICC wishes to state the following in order to set the record straight:

  • Prospective Hadjis duly registered with the ICC have been invited to EXPRESS their interest for hadj 2026 since 25 July 2025.
  • This information has been communicated to the public through all channels of communication: written press, social media, posters in mosques & statements by the Chairman of ICC on MBC-TV.
  • Several communiqués have been issued in that respect and the final deadline for registration was 08 September 2025. [STAR newspaper of 31.08.25]
  • The said person submitted his online application on 16 October 2025, after the deadline set.
  • After submitting his application as well as that of his wife, he called at the ICC. He explained that he was abroad and came back to Mauritius only recently. He was given all explanations and clarifications for the Hadj 2026 application, the process and deadlines.

He was also explained that:

  • Both his spouse and himself are eligible for Hajj 2026.
  • However, due to the late application, their names could not be included on the list of confirmed applicants at this stage.
  • Their names are being placed on a Waiting List and confirmation will depend on subsequent cancellation by existing applicants.
  • This is the normal practice and concerns ALL eligible applications received after the deadline set.

The ICC reiterates its commitment to complete the sanitization of the list and that process is almost complete.

The list of all those who qualify for Hadj 2026 will be made public in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
